Our November Mediator Certification program will be
centrally located in the convenient Tampa Bay area, just off of I-275, with complementary parking.
(Further details are provided in your registration confirmation.)
This program meets the requirements of many employers, agencies and courts seeking qualified mediators; and it is the first step for anyone becoming designated in Florida as a Certified Mediator in County Court Programs.
It is not necessary to be an attorney to become a Certified County Mediator. There are no advanced educational degree requirements beyond a Diploma or its equivalent.
Our County Court Mediator Certification Training takes place over 2 and 1/2 days, is highly engaging, interactive, and includes mediation role plays, ensuring that it meets required certified mediation training standards and 20 hours of instructional time. Providing the program over 2 and 1/2 days offers less interruption in your regular weekly schedule.
Over the course of the training, you will have an opportunity to:
enhance your negotiation skills;
broaden and strengthen communication knowledge and skills;
develop familiarity of typical county court issues and processes;
gain an understanding of the mediation process;
increase awareness of the importance of understanding diversity and diversity-related issues;
increase your knowledge of conflict resolution concepts and techniques, useful in community, personal and professional surroundings.
After completion of the 20-hour training program, in order to obtain certification, you will be required to participate in local county court mediations as an observer, and possibly, as a co-mediator. You will receive greater detail when we meet within the training program or you can review the Florida Rules for Certified and Court-Appointed Mediators. You may also link to the Dispute Resolution Center's guide, "How to Become a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator," by clicking here:
or you may visit the Dispute Resolution pages at
Upon arrival, you will receive a printed set of course materials (there is no need to download and self-print your materials) including a County Mediator's Manual, the applicable Florida Statutes, the Rules of Civil Procedure, Rules for Certified and Court-Appointed Mediators and more.
Afternoon refreshments are included daily, along with breakfast fare and lunch on each of the full days (Friday and Saturday).
This dynamic program is highly interactive, and provides you the opportunity to participate in role-plays to further develop your skills and confidence as a future mediator!
